2026 Conference News

We are thrilled to announce that the next biennial meeting of our Association will be held in Winnipeg October 15-17, 2026. Please find the call for papers here.

In preparation for the next biennial meeting, we would like to start a mentorship program that connects graduate students and early-career scholars with more senior scholars in the field. If you would like to be part of this program, please email Garrett Hajnal at garrett.hajnal@ualberta.ca by November 3, 2025. Further details to follow.

Jason Ellis’s second term as editor of Historical Studies in Education will be up in January. Please find a call for editor here (this is a single document that includes French and English).

Finally, in case you are missing CHEA, we have planned two opportunities for us to get together virtually.

On October 16th at 6:30 EDT, Prof. Scott MacLean from the University of Calgary will be talking about his recent article in Historical Studies in Education: ““A Lasting Alliance Between Town and Gown”? On November 25th at 6:30 EST, we will have the team who produced the new book Behind the Bricks: The Life and Times of the Mohawk Institute, Canada’s Longest-Running Residential School to present and discuss their work. We are still working on the platform for this event. More details will be announced shortly.

We are looking forward to seeing you in October and November and – of course – we hope that you will join us in person next October in Winnipeg!

En prévision du prochain congrès, nous souhaitons lancer un programme de conseil qui met en relation des étudiants diplômés et des chercheurs en début de carrière avec des chercheurs avec plus d’expérience dans le domaine.
